Dental Restoration in Longmont

Your oral health is important. Crooked teeth, gaps, wearing due to clenching and grinding of teeth, missing teeth, or rotting/deteriorating teeth.  All of these dental issues can lead to decreased function of the mouth, pain, headaches, infection, and a slow deterioration of the entire structure of your face.  At Robert O’Brien Family Dentistry, our goal with dental restoration is to provide our patients with a healthy, functional mouth—that also looks great.  We have experienced staff and use only the best in equipment, technique, and materials.

We understand that each patient is unique in their needs so we make a customized dental restoration plan for you. There is no one-size-fits all solution.  What might be right for one patient will not necessarily be the treatment plan best suited for you.

Common Dental Restoration Procedures

Dental Crowns: A cap that completely surrounds the tooth that is most often used after root canals or to cover teeth with chips, cracks, or severely worn down enamel.  Dental crowns offer protection and are also used in cosmetic dentistry.

Dental Inlays & Onlays:  Also known as partial crowns, inlays and onlays are used when a full dental crown is not necessary and are commonly used to replace old fillings.  Unlike a regular filling, inlays and onlays are made in a lab and bonded into place in-office.  Inlays and onlays are an excellent restorative dental treatment for damaged teeth and can even increase the tooth structure. An inlay is similar to a filling as it fits inside the edges of the tooth. An onlay is more extensive and covers more of the tooth, extending over the cusps.

Tooth Colored Fillings: Used to restore teeth with cavities, tooth colored fillings replace the tooth enamel removed to extract the decay.  Gone are the silver amalgam fillings of the past—leaving you with obvious signs of work done.  Tooth colored fillings are virtually undetectable and leave a healthy and clean look behind.

Dental Bridges: For those choosing not to do a dental implant, dental bridges are the alternative to replace missing teeth. It’s a way to replace a missing tooth without undergoing surgery.  This process involves placing dental crowns on the surrounding teeth to create anchors that will hold a gum colored “bridge” that the new tooth is secured to.

Dental Implants: Dental implants are by far the durable and natural looking option for those looking to replace a missing tooth.  Implants create a metal root structure that fuses with your jawbone that is strong and secure.  Once an implant has been placed a beautiful crown is placed and the result is entirely natural looking.  Your mouth will function normally and look aesthetically pleasing.

Dentures: Another option for tooth loss is dentures. We offer full dentures, for a full set of upper and lower teeth, as well as partial dentures that replace onlyl a limited number of missing teeth.  Loss of teeth and the expense that can accompany some of the dental restoration options can feel overwhelming and expensive but that should not stop you from living a full and healthy life. Removable dentures are an appropraite option for many patients.  You can have a healthy, comfortable, and beautiful smile with dentures.
